This is one of those project-led blogs. Week by week I’ll be sending dispatches from the front line of my reading group, where – life-changing would be too strong a word, but let’s say head-altering – revelations are hatched and shared. It all began a year ago, when I was lucky enough to be part of a Royal Literary Fund-sponsored pilot scheme to run reading groups for adults. I chose to set up a mutli-faith group. We met inside a bedouin tent in the middle of the city of London. We read together, learned together, laughed and argued together. My partner noticed that I always came home from my group meetings buzzing with ideas. I noticed that my writing was gradually changing. This year I’m taking the group again. Only now I’m letting others in on the act. . .
